  About Gunung Tahan
 
 
Taman Negara was declared for conservation in 1938 and has become Malaysia's premier national park and the largest in the country covering over 4343 square kilometres (434,300 hectares) of primary forest, spans across three states Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang - and is situated in the centre of the Peninsula Malaysia. Taman Negara is the most extensive protected area of pristine, lowland,evergreen rainforest in the country. Taman Negara originated from Pahang State Legislation in 1925 and in the district of Jerantut.

Gunung Tahan (2,187m/7174ft), located within Taman Negara National Park.The highest mountain in west Malaysia. About 54km trekking way distance from Kampung Kuala Tahan, Jerantut and only 42km trekking way from Kampung Sungai Relau, Merapoh.

The best season to climb this mountain is April, May June & July and It will close on medial of November to medial of January.
In this old rainforest, you can see more than 100 difference type of the tropical plant and some wild animal and insect too. Specially leeches, sandfly & bee are the most popular insects you have to face to.
 
There have 3 trail to reach the summit of this mountain,
1. Kuala Tahan (classic trail)
2. Merapoh (Sungai Relau)
3. Kelantan (new trail)
 
 
1. The original Kuala Tahan Trail is the longer & challenging trail to reach the summit by using 4 days time. By using this original trail, you need to pass 27 peak of mountain and 7 time of river crossing.
